Meet our staff

Our roles and our overall vision continue to evolve due to daily interaction with the children. We are not only teaching Montessori children every day; we are incorporating new technology as well as staying up to date with tools, resources, and information that can help students learn more efficiently and effectively. We combine Montessori education with love, care and above all a friendly approach tailored to the parents’ and children’s needs. We believe parents’ recommendations and suggestions are paramount and they are always taken into account when building our program.

Montessori children at Step-by-Step always develop a tight bond with their teachers and the entire faculty. The children’s love of the teachers positively affects their social development. Our supportive environment at school greatly complements the family’s role at home. We are constantly collaborating with the parents and researching how to create the best child/teacher relationship. It’s lovely to see our former preschool children come back to visit when they are in elementary and even middle school!

Marzi Haghighi, the head of the school, brings many years of both teaching and administrative experience to Step-by-Step Montessori. She is an honorable mother of two successful children of her own and holds a bachelor’s degree in nutrition from SFSU. She is Montessori certified, and regularly attends Montessori workshops around the nation.

Mrs. Haghighi promotes interactive progressive teaching techniques combined with the international Montessori philosophy. She goes above and beyond to help mentor newer Montessori teachers and provides her undivided attention when she is with the children. Most importantly she loves what she does every day and considers work an integral part of her life.
